SARAH HAYWOOD

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

Sarah is an experienced and passionate teacher with over 25 years’ experience supporting students’ learning in a range of diverse educational settings.

Bachelor of Arts with a diploma of Education from Macquarie University

Sarah has planned and implemented evidenced-based programs for students of all levels of ability as a teacher and Assistant Principal in 9 different primary schools. Sarah has also worked for two charities, designing and implementing educational programs for children with serious illness and mental health challenges from Kindergarten to Year 9.

In her management roles, Sarah has mentored and supported teachers in the classroom, and planned and delivered professional learning to build the capacity of teachers across the state. While working as an Education Officer with the Curriculum Directorate, Sarah assisted in the development of assessment programs and resource materials to support the teaching and learning of K-6 students in NSW public schools.

Prior to working at PosAbility, her most recent role was as Learning and Support Teacher in a public school, supporting students with learning difficulties to further develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

Sarah believes that building a strong connection with each child is the foundation for educational success. She creates a warm, welcoming environment in which she delivers individualised, purposeful lessons to ensure her students feel safe to have a go at new challenges and feel confident and successful in their learning.
