REBECCA SUTHERLAND

SPEECH PATHOLOGIST

Rebecca Sutherland is a highly experienced speech pathologist and lecturer with the University of Sydney. She has worked previously for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Autism Spectrum Australia.

PHD from Griffith University

Rebecca has worked extensively in a range of settings, including government and not-for-profit sectors as a speech pathologist, researhced, project offiver and organisations. She has a PhD from Griffith University, focused on telehealth for diverse learners, including children with autism and has worked as an assistant professor in speech pathology with University of Canberra and in the Autism Centre for Excellence with Griffith University. Rebecca’s research and clinical interests include autism, literacy and telehealth. Rebecca loves working with families and children to help uncover and understand each child’s strengths and passions, as well as the types of supports that might be helpful at home, preschool or school.

At PosAbility, Rebecca provides assessments as part of a multidisciplinary process for diagnosis of Autism. She conducts assessments of speech and language, pragmatic language, social communication and behaviour using tools such as the ADOS, CELF and thorough clinical interviews. Rebecca works closely with a range of local paediatricians and professionals to provide a holistic approach to Autism assessment through a neuro-affirmative lens.
