Founder and Principal Consultant of PosAbility, Katrina is a psychologist and experienced teacher with over twelve years experience working with children and their families.

Katrina holds full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and has taught both primary and secondary students across a range of educational settings.

Katrina has extensive experience assessing and working with children and adolescents with a range of special needs. She has a particular interest in the assessment and management of learning and behavioural difficulties such as; intellectual disability, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, attention deficit disorders (ADHD) and oppositional defiance disorder. She is also experienced in assessing and working with gifted children.

After working at a leading children’s hospital for over four years, Katrina also has a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping children with cancer and other chronic illness or complex health conditions, with their educational, emotional and social needs.

Katrina also has a particular interest in how a child’s self esteem and emotional well being can affect their learning and behaviour at school and home. She is trained in a range of counselling techniques and psychological therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Behaviour modification and Interpersonal Therapy, working to overcome anxiety, depression, behavioural difficulties and other emotional barriers to maximise the child’s ability and enable them to reach their potential in the social and academic domains.

Katrina is an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and is involved in the association’s ongoing Professional Development Program, which requires regular participation in professional development courses and training. She is registered as a provider with Medicare and Private Health Funds.
