Claudia is an experienced Special Education Teacher and Speech Pathologist with over 20 years in working with children and their families. Claudia is bilingual as she speaks and writes fluently in German and English.

She holds a Masters of Special Education from University of Cologne in Germany and Masters of Speech Pathology from Easter Illinoi University in the United States of America. Claudia has worked in a range of settings across Germany, United States of America and in Australia as a Special Educator and Speech Pathologist, including special schools for children with learning difficulties, International Schools in Germany and Australia and private Speech Pathology clinics in Germany and the USA, including a neurology clinic supporting people with traumatic brain injuries.

Since relocating to Australia, Claudia worked as the Special Education Coordinator at the German International School in Sydney and now as a Special Education Consultant at PosAbility since July, 2019. While Claudia’s registration as a Speech Pathologist has not transferred to Australia, she is able to bring that knowledge and expertise to her work as a Special Educator with children in the context of educational intervention.

Claudia has experience in working with children with a range of special needs, including Developmental Language Disorder or language delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia and ADHD. Claudia has a special interest in specific learning difficulties, particularly in Mathematics. With her diverse experience, she is able to support children of all ages with their language, literacy and numeracy skill development.

At PosAbility, Claudia provides a range of services, including;
– Standardised academic assessments, including assessments of phonological processing, reading, spelling, writing and numeracy
– Individualised evidence based programs in literacy and numeracy
– Academic support sessions with a focus on applying language, literacy and numeracy skills to the curriculum

Claudia adopts a holistic approach in customising individual learning programs, taking into account a child’s educational and home environment, academic and developmental needs and their emotional well-being. She enjoys seeing each student grow in confidence and independence in their learning and believes that motivation to succeed is key for a child’s progress.
